My First Fortnight as Mayor

16th May 2018

On the 2nd of May 2018, I was given the great honour of becoming the new Mayor of Llanelli, following in the footsteps of many great civic leaders in the history of Llanelli. Over the coming year, I will be representing Llanelli Town Council to the best of my ability, alongside my Mayoress, Kim, my Deputy Suzy and her consort Molly, and I hope to live up to the high standards of the office set by my predecessors.

The first two weeks has mainly involved attending other inaugurations across Carmarthenshire on behalf of Llanelli Town Council. It’s been a fantastic experience to be part of the history and culture of our various communities. A particular highlight being that of the precession of the Kidwelly Town Mayor, a position which has existed for over 400 years.

It’s also been a great pleasure to attend two performances at the Ffwrness Theatre, “Seasons of Love” by the Curtain Up Theatre Company and “Once Bitten” by the Phoenix Theatre Group. Both of these shows highlighted the oodles of talent we have in Llanelli and why it’s so fantastic that we have the Ffwrness Theatre as a venue in the town.

Over the coming weeks, I have many more events in the diary including my first fundraiser and the welcoming of my chosen charities to the Mayor’s parlour. I look forward to supporting these great causes throughout the year and helping them raise funds to assist them with their work.
