Twinning Visit July 2018

11th July 2018

2019 will mark the 30th anniversary of the twinning of Llanelli with Agen. As part of our continued relationship with Agen, Llanelli received a party of visitors from Agen this week.

As Mayor of Llanelli, it gave me great pleasure to welcome our European neighbours to Llanelli at a reception in the Mayor’s Parlour. The evening was one full of song courtesy of Christian Moulié and our Mayoress, Kim Darkin. I was also presented with a gift of Agen prunes and pictured below is the gift of a Llanelli Town Council plate which I presented to Christian.

Durning the cultural exchange, we were treated to two concerts by Christian Moulié in Llanelli House and the Parish Church. One of our great connections is that both Llanelli and Agen are bi-lingual towns, as such we heard songs in both French and Occitan, including songs written by Christian.

We even found time for a game of bowles in Parc Y Dre, hosted by the Llanelli Visually Impaired bowls team.
