General Election ’17 Campaign Update

11th May 2017

It’s only been 1 week since we last went to the polls at the local elections, but already the general election campaign is well underway. So far, I’ve been out and about meeting the public and knocking doors in Ammanford, Llandovery, Ferryside and later today I’ll be in Llandeilo. I’m keen to hear what you think your local MP should be doing for you in Carmarthen East & Dinefwr.

Theresa May wants to make this General Election all about Brexit to avoid scrutiny of the Tories’ record of failure. Welsh Labour will not let that happen, we will hold them to account for the choices which are leaving working families worse off and risk starving our vital public services of funds.

The Welsh Labour Government has already produced a comprehensive, credible blue print for a Brexit that would work for Wales and the UK as a whole. Labour’s plan for Britain after Brexit would be to rebuild the economy by investing in infrastructure, skills, new technology and green industries.

Infrastructure investment is critically important for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr where mobile phone signal black spots and lack of high speed broadband is choking our local economy and making our community less attractive to business investment.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can in the coming weeks.
